I was actually hoping for some legal explanation and potential consequences for any of these defamation threats (which I know for a fact there is on an individual basis), but the only thing that was said is we can assure you that UA hiring will not change in anyway because UA line pilots DO NOT dictate hiring. Although it seems like some of this social media drama has cooled down. Possible UA HR intervention? They are aware. The two people I know at United have not heard anything from management.
United pilots have no say in who is selected to begin the interview process. That is all HR. However, two of the people who sit across the table during your interview will be active United pilots and they have a big say in who gets hired. I don’t mean that as a threat to make people step into line, but all applicants will have to get past United pilots during the interview to land the job. Many highly qualified people passed the Hogan only to fail the interview well before any of this began. Say what you wish, but United pilots do dictate who passes the interview, and therefore who gets hired.
