I don't agree with the way it was handled, but it wasn't the wrong turn that got them in trouble. Talk to your union reps.
I'm sure you've never made a single mistake in the airplane. And yes, in fact it was because liveatc and the news that so much attention was brought on them. People have done much worse and fireable offenses that still work here/American. Again, what do you have to gain from putting down pilots at every chance you get?
