So how does reserve work with C5? I've heard of airport reserve being a thing and it is what it is....but is that the only kind of reserve to be seen? Any insights on that whole phase of life before you hold a line?
NJD can answer a lot more accurately than me (I’m waiting for IOE) but I believe that you can bid for either standby or short call.
I’ve seen a lot of senior reserves actually bid standby since they are more likely to be called to fly, plus you get paid per diem while sitting.
One thing that I’m gonna also ask is if I can sit seat support for the sim instead of reserve, especially if FO reserves continue to not be flown much. 1) It’d keep me sharp 2) I’d get per diem reliably and around the clock, and 3) It would likely make joining the training dept easier if that’s something I want to do later.
