My friends at Netjets tell me it is a mixed bag. Some pros/cons:
Some Pros:
1. Nice equipment replacing some of the older airframes (incoming Longitudes look nice!)
2. Home basing (not worried about commute)
3. Varied and sometimes challenging flying
4. Over time you can fly worldwide (Global)
5. Some people really like the schedule options (E.G. 7/7)
5. Can make good money as a Captain - the latest contract has some improvements
Some Cons:
1. Upgrade can take years (although may be improving as the old farts gradually leave)
2. Frequent minimum rest on the road with fatigue as they try to “optimize” pilot utilization - some fleets are very busy and pilots can feel very fatigued. The upside is now crews are paid more per hour beyond a certain hour number per tour (after 12.5 hours?) which leads to fewer fatigue calls
3. Unlike the airlines, you often need to restock and clean the airplanes (ie cleaning up “rich boy pi$$” off the $hitter ain’t fun when nobody else can help)
I am sure I forgot some important pros and cons. In any case, it is a very different job from an airline job. To sum up, the equipment is great (a friend on the Latitude loves it), the flying is varied/challenging and Captain pay is very good when you upgrade, but the trade off is a lot of fatiguing flying with frequent min rest and currently a slowish upgrade. A few friends who have recently left Netjets for Spirit, SWA and JetBlue feel they work a lot less at the airlines.
Again, I am sure actual Netjets pilots can provide a lot more details....
