Some where along the line the ID was changed from IPT to FQM, but they kept the name Williamsport. Google has yielded nothing. According to the FAA, most NAVAIDS are named for the nearest town, city, or landmark, but scouring the charts and looking at the history of the town of Williamsport, I find nothing.

Thanks for any insight! Like I said, useless trivia resulting from boredom on a red eye last nite/early this morning into EWR.
I have wondered this also. I fly around that area a lot and I could never find a nearby town or anything resembling FQM.
