I can’t really leave my job but it is very flexible as I set my own hours and days. How long would it take for me to finish all the way to CFI2 if I trained 3-4 days per week? I could even do some half days on my work days but not really sure how the schedules work for training.
I’m looking to do it this way to avoid financing all together.
I also forgot to add that I have flight schools as close as 15 mins or a 1hr drive.
To go from 0 to CFII while working full time and flying 3-4 days per week (consistently through out the entire duration of training... which is probably not realistic depending on where you are located in the country) will take a bit of time.
I work full time and have been flying 3-4 days per week for most of my PPL training. I have ran some rough numbers and from PPL to CFI will probably take me about 1.5 years... Maybe more...
Just go get your PPL first. That will give you a good gauge on how long the process will be. I had a mentality of getting in and hauling @$$.... when you start flying, especially if you work full time you will realize it is not as quick as you thought it would be. I have my PPL checkride tomorrow (may get cancelled because weather). My first flight lesson was 5/15/19. So about 6 months.
