Agreed...that's why I brought it up. So the previous chest thumping posts re how great UAL treats their new hires fails to look at the overall picture. While what they posted was factually true AND good shiznit....it only tells part of the story
A UAL new hire with a Jan class date would lose approx $16,000 of PS ?(DAL PS payout)...UAL is less % as of now. So, some new hires would be better off with the Delta system others with the UAL system if hired later in the year.
My real point.....if these minor nuances (which effectively are inconsequential over a career) affect one's choice of which outfit to go with......well, I'd rather they not get hired where I work because I feel they lack critical thinking skills. JMHO
A majors need to pattern bargain to get the "bestest" for ALL the pilots...including the new hires
PS. Not only do they get PS if on probation...they get DB (additional 16% )on top of the PS.
So, it's not an IRS thing...it an "eat the young thing"
