[QUOTE=Jetjok;292006]It's rather hard to compare someone on an annual salary, which, from the outset includes both salary and bonuses, and someone else on an hourly rate. The piloting profession is hourly, while management is always salary. If we fly extra, we get paid more. If we fly less, we get paid less. For salaried folks, their pay stays the same regardless of how many hours or days they work in a week or a month. Their job is to maximize income for the corporation and its shareholders, while our job is to move the freight. Apples and oranges. Personally, I have no problem with those guys getting fat bonuses, because they're doing what their paid to do ...
Thanks for the lesson on how the airline world works, without it I would be lost.
The problem with the current situation -- PC's assessment -- is we are EXPECTED to ACCEPT a PAY CUT.
What a concept -- management always looks for the easy fix on the backs of the pilots. Maybe that SHIATZ works at UAL or NWA due to BANCRUPTCY, but is not the immediate solution here with profits at ONE BILLION FREAKIN' DOLLARS.
Sorry for all the CAPS, but I wasn't sure the over 60 crowd could HEAR ME!
Fear and paranoia are great motivators -- if you believe the messenger (PC). Don't be held hostage by management. The true value of a CBA comes out in these situations, otherwise, management would hack and slash at will.
