Years ago just after the merger I got asked by a visiting guppy crew where the Chief Pilot’s Office was. I told them “Its in flight operations.” They said “Oh...where’s the weather room”? I told them I have no idea but I’ll intro them to the chief pilot. We got down to ops and I said the chief pilot is this way and they said this is what they were looking for and called it “the weather room”. I’ve never heard of operations being called the weather room until that time.
I have no problem calling things whatever, but some guys still call a category a BES even though that’s not the term we use, but they I get chastised when I call the CPO “flight ops”. So I guess we are even.
Door codes at EWR say “Flight Planning Area in the Chief Pilot Office”. Pretty clear to me. Not sure what JEPP says but probably more of the same.
