I thought I’d hidden my fear/discomfort well, but as we cleared the runway they both looked back at me and the captain asked, “First time on the -200 jumpseat?” I don’t know what tipped them off. I’m pretty sure I didn’t make any noises, but I apologized if I had distracted them. They said it happens frequently. It still weirds me out even though I commute on them all the time!
It was probably the white knuckle grip you had on their seatbacks, the severe angle you were leaning back in the jumpseat and/or the loud sucking noise you were making as they got close to the runway. Yeah, I remember my first time up front on a 200 too.
