If I buy a ticket, I make sure my bag is on the ticket. I don’t want to put an agent in a position of me trying to bring a bag on, that isn’t paid for, on a revenue ticket. Not fair to them. So I always buy the ticket online and get the bags free; family too.
We use to have "Pennies" Fares, on some routes and certain days. I don't know if we still have those. You basically pay for the taxes. It doesn't hurt to have the agent check the prices. As far as bags, at my home airport, Somehow i get bags added when the tickets is purchase without ever asking.
All of this info was given to me by an agent, and that's why i've always buy my tickets at the counter.
