Unfortunately you will regret it big time, timing means a great deal in aviation!! A few months in 2007 meant furlough or not. I’ve been around a few guys that were at foreign/middle east carriers when they got UPS/Fedex/Legacy FJO, none chose to defer/bypass. This is a cut throat industry, you NEVER voluntarily choose to give up seniority especially if it’s your “dream” job!!
Unless you are at Qatar Airways, which restricts your country departure, ALWAYS take first available!!! Timing isn’t always perfect, if potential folk is expecting “perfect” scenario/placement then roll the dice and see what happens. With our pilot group size of 2,950 or so, anyone junior to 2,600 cannot remotely become comfortable yet.
