This is a cut throat industry, you NEVER voluntarily choose to give up seniority especially if it’s your “dream” job!!

Unless you are at Qatar Airways, which restricts your country departure, ALWAYS take first available!!! Timing isn’t always perfect, if potential folk is expecting “perfect” scenario/placement then roll the dice and see what happens. With our pilot group size of 2,950 or so, anyone junior to 2,600 cannot remotely become comfortable yet.
I’m reasonably optimistic that his regrets will revolve around not quite holding holidays off next year instead of being furlough bait. Seniority is important at UPS (and all airlines), but there are options to improve QOL outside of straight seniority. Smart bidding and well thought out life choices will matter for more.
