This is a cut throat industry, you NEVER voluntarily choose to give up seniority especially if it’s your “dream” job!!
Unless you are at Qatar Airways, which restricts your country departure, ALWAYS take first available!!! Timing isn’t always perfect, if potential folk is expecting “perfect” scenario/placement then roll the dice and see what happens. With our pilot group size of 2,950 or so, anyone junior to 2,600 cannot remotely become comfortable yet.
I don’t think it’s ever fair to tell someone “you will regret it big time.” Yes seniority is important, but you never know what life situation requires one to make the decisions they make. I think it’s better to worry about your own life rather than tell someone they made a mistake they will regret.
