I don't believe that there is any actuarial data that addresses retirement age vs life expectancy after retirement FOR AIRLINE PILOTS. We've all heard of the studies conducted by (I believe) Boeing, but that was for folks in their plants, and as we all know, people who live in the North West are not "normal" anyway. Besides, these studies, or data, are a generalization. A better method might be asking the individuals themselves, because when it feels like they need to retire, hopefully they will. If they retire before that, it's premature. Of course, the new age limit is another factor that must be taken into account.

Of course, you could paw over past seniority lists, somehow get the names and phone numbers of the "old guys" and then while you're on layover, after 9 P.M. (the free minutes time for your cell phone provider), give them a call and ask if they're still alive. Then once a year you could publish said list.
