Sounds like you are experiencing a lack of fulfillment. Your full time job is just that, a job. So if I were you, I would look for fulfillment (or sense of purpose) through other activities. One that pops into my mind is joining the military reserves. Flying perhaps, but even just enlisting in the Guard/Reserves with a ground unit may give you that fulfillment/excitement you are looking for, thus allowing you to view your full time job as just that, a job. Countless ancillary benefits as well.
