If there’s no seat lock, and you keep your seniority, then why not just select ERJ and go to a more desirable base right off the bat (the guy a few pages back wanted BOI). Hang out there, then when you’re ready to upgrade just bite the bullet and switch to a junior base and change airframes (ex: CRJ DTW).
Unless the ERJ just doesn’t build time as fast, I don’t see the benefit of going to the CRJ and spending the whole time at a junior base in order to upgrade.

Have to go to the full initial training course to learn the new plane when going ERJ->CRJ.
CRJ->CRJ is something like a week class.
But if you want 2 types and don’t mind being in training for 2.5 months again...
