International Division is required at AA to do those routes. It’s in your FOM even. Basically if it’s originating in the US and goes to a foreign country and it’s over water it’s international for divisions. I.e Cancun, Cozumel, San Juan, etc. Hawaii even and Alaska.
Is it dumb? Eh.... It’s how we’ve alwAAys done it though.
