As Rascal said, SO many variables to consider that throwing out a hard number is impossible. CA can be had now at UAL in three years vs. what we have. Living in base, particularly if one is not willing/able to move. Years to retirement/current age.

If the move makes sense for you and your family, then move you should. It's really that simple. This industry allows for SO MANY personal desires that it defies logic.

As I told a friend here just yesterday... run a spreadsheet showing BOTH careers (JB and Legacy). Yes, there will be a dip in earnings and net worth due to training, lower pay for X years, less 401k, etc. But there will also be PS (maybe). An interview to prep for. Training event to deal with. "Stuff" to think about besides just the money. I'd say ANYONE who has more than 10 years to retirement can end with a larger $$ value by leaving than by staying, up to a point. What that point is should be determined by the individual, not some numbers posted on an anonymous airline forum.

Family is also a big factor to consider.
