No that’s completely understandable, not everyone has a lifestyle conducive to being gone for that long in a row. I’m more talking the people that think it’s a ball-busting 16 days. I fly about the same legs in an entire month sometimes as my other half does on a 4 day.
That is the truth. A year ago I was flying 20-24 leg, 4 day trips. This month I will fly 16 legs in 14 flying days.
I will say the flip flop, day to night back
to day flying is taking some time and discipline to adjust to. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting 6-8 hours of deep sleep during those schedule changes.
I am a husband and father, like many pilots in ACMI land. The days away at a time aren’t easy, but it’s not as bad as you think it would be. The best feeling is getting home knowing you have almost two weeks before you even need to pack your bags again. By day 10 or 11 at home, your spouse will wonder when you’re leaving again
