Default Chances of a Job in a Legacy Carrier

Hi All,

I wanted to get some views/guidance on my situation which is a little unique. I’m currently an FO in a European LOCO. I have around 2500 hours on the A320, and I’m in the holdpool for a European flag carrier, which I could probably on-board in the next 12 months.

I also have a greencard (from and earlier life), and would rather continue my career in the US. I’ve probably got another 15-20 years flying in me, as I came to this career pretty late. But I have a complication......

20 years ago I was convicted of a DUI in Europe, I don’t have any record outside of this or in the US. Got banned from driving for 12 months in Europe at the time...... no other incidents before or since.....in Europe I don’t even have to declare this as it’s considered “spent”.

So my questions are - would I ever be considered acceptable for entry into a legacy carrier in the US with this background and if there is a route into a legacy?

If so are there any differences in how different legacy carriers may view this and are there more approachable ones?

I’m assuming I would have to declare this as you didn’t have a “spent” approach to old incidents, and I had to declare it when I got my GC.

Thanks for your inputs
