Me too. I know all of that because I started at ATP. I bought into the hype and decided to bail. I ended up having the most expensive PPL training in the world as a result, but now that I'm at an FBO doing everything else, I am waaay under budget and having a BLAST doing it. I'm learning so much and actually being able to pay mostly out of pocket. And the best part is that I get to fly solo whenever I want. You can't learn to be a great pilot if every hour you fly is dual. Try going to ATP and renting a plane while you're a student. YOU CAN'T!! If they are so confident in their work, why won't they let you solo? Oh yeah, because there is only time to learn, they don't allocate time to get experience. Yeah, I'd feel pretty confident 100% of the time if I had a CFI riding with me everywhere I went too.
