Default Who is a Deadzoner?

Despite comments from arrogant little twits on this forum accusing some of a “money grab” and placing blame for not “saving enough” The plain and simple truth is: Quarterly statements were published showing the value of your accrued pension. Your deferred compensation. In other words, the published statement displayed the value of what you were “saving” based on flying all the way to 60 with columns for the reduced value of several years if one retired early. I’ve kept my final statement in a drawer in the living room that’s become very difficult for me to open. It’s one hell of a wound.

In one memo, or possibly notepad, I would have to look for it, we were told you could go to immediateannuities.com to calculate the value of your earned pension at any point in time. Personally, mine turned out to be $3.6 million. That early in my career I felt like I was saving enough with a little frosting on top from the 401(k). Considering only one frugal wife and a modest, paid-for, B scale house, I guess up to that point, I felt like I had saved enough because I believed my association and the company. In hindsight, the only two meaningful mistakes I have made in my career.

Anyway, back to John Malone’s PowerPoint.

There was a bell curve on the chart factoring time remaining on property and earned benefit lost/stolen. If my memory is correct, the chart considered PBGC, claim or note(?) and time remaining, and whether or not you were considered PC 3 or PC 4 by the PBGC.

. The high part of the bell curve was labeled The Dead Zone meaning you would never recover or even come close with your time remaining at Delta Airlines.

Since then, many have jumped on the bandwagon claiming to be Deadzoners. Frankly, I don’t have a problem with what anyone innocently claims anymore due to lack of understanding. The term has gotten rather old now and the meaning seems to have morphed a little.

“Arrogant Little Twits” is really going to further the conversation and get you what you want. HAHAHHAHAHA

How about this: I have a single vote, just like you. And me and my friends have watched you make millions of dollars in salary and PS the past few years, and have watched you do extremely well (financially).

And you don’t know what my future holds financially. So let’s not take away from me (all of us, for that matter) to fund you.

I’ll take my arrogant little vote and ensure I take care of me this time around. Thanks.

And as far as the definition of a deadzoner: it doesn’t really matter. The companies that declared bankruptcy and came out the other end aren’t the Delta or NWA of old. They don’t owe anyone anything. It’s sad, but true.

The only people they care about are shareholders. And those folks aren’t gonna plus anyone’s retirement up at their own expense.

But go ahead and keep posting on APC and entering resolutions at LEC levels. I’m sure Mother D will just hand over money to a group that isn’t defined and has no clear cut boundaries
