Check Airmen know each other from previous Airlines, Chief Pilots know each other from previous Airlines and so does HR.
At my present employer I’ve flown with 5 Captains (already!) that personally knew and have flown with the Crusty A-hole Check Airman I had to endure at my previous employer.
