The point being that the “computer” did not “override” the airplane and prevent a go around as mentioned above. The guys flying it completely messed up.

You’re right about the computer not overriding the crew. Been a minute, but I’m pretty sure that Alpha Floor is a thrust only mode. Alpha Prot is the mode inhibits nose up pitch beyond L/D Max along with some other things I don’t 100% remember but I think they were retracting the spoilers and inhibiting further nose up trim. That all occurs at the top of the tiger tail on the speed tape.

Alpha floor is an autothrust only mode and depends only on the availability of autothrust and the aircraft being above 100RA. Many say that it kicks in at the bottom of the tiger tail, but that’s not really what it’s looking at as you can force it to activate well before then-it’s predictive. The A300-600 & A310 are conventional non-FBW aircraft outside of the spoilers. They’re basically like the 767 and have a similar conventional autothrottle system as well. Those aircraft do not have Alpha Prot, but they do have Alpha Floor and it’s the same system with same result of TOGA thrust if activated. Still have to be above 100 RA and autothrottles available doesn’t matter if they’re currently engaged or not.
