As I said earlier, I have a very intimate knowledge of a very large civilian helicopter operation and I'm telling you it's not pretty. Compared to that, I think I'd take an ATP CFI. And for the record I'm not an ATP grad myself. I have just done a lot of interviews in the past and was always impressed by them. They really knew their stuff. That's all....
yah I don’t doubt that the civilian guys are a whole other thing. Hillsboro was a mess and lost GI Bill funding as a result. Originally the RTP programs were designed to attract the Military guys. There are quite a few here already that came through the regionals and I can almost promise that the ones that will come through the RTP program here are going to be the top end of experience and professionalism. Army aviation tends to police itself very well and the ones that are here Hopefully will have some input on who we take, at least initially.
So based on that, I would take that type of Aviator over 0-Hero CFI. Personal opinion, but as long as they are competent, I’ll give it a go.
