I flew with a captain many years ago. We went out to lunch. He threw a tantrum because the restaurant wasn’t going to give us a discount since neither of us brought our airline ID’s. Eventually, after getting the manager involved, they relented and gave us a discount.

After devouring all his food the captain declared his meal unsat and said he wouldn’t be leaving a tip. Unbeknownst to him I left a tip to cover both our meals.

What I’m reading here reminds me of that. Just say it, “I don’t tip because I’m a tight wad”
Because the world isn't black and white. There could be very valid reasons someone doest tip a van driver. You want it to be as simple as "tight wad" but there can be legit reasons beyond that. Your example is a crappy one, which is tantamount to stealing from the restaurant, so nice try at smearing people as criminals or thieves for not tipping a van driver.

The "always tip the driver" crowed seem like a group of fanatics, good lord. Let people be themselves and let them live their lives, you have no idea the reasons someone may or may not. If you want us all to be considered "tight wads", what about those like myself that often do tip, but not always? Part time "tight wad"?
