You're right. No way to really simulate what has or hasn't been agreed to by the engineers and regulators.

On the other hand....I was wondering why a specific FTD is needed for the max?

I thought FTD's are just used for procedures and flows; cockpit familiarization stuff. MCAS or software really shouldn't come into play for a flight training device? Just curious about that.....
