If something truly effected me this greatly, and tipping required such an ‘insignificant’ amount, I would always make sure they were compensated for those non-tippers.
So when you see me (or any scum cheap pilot) not tip, and since $1-3 is nothing to you, go ahead and make us both happy, tip $1-3 more for my non-tip.
That way I don’t have to listen to your judgmental nonsense, and you won’t get ‘negative’ service from the driver.
It’s win-win!

Do you really think $3-$4 is really gonna sway a van driver? Or is it more likely that they will be swayed by someone genuinely interested in how there day is? More times than not, good crews end up forming good relationships with their drivers and know family names or hobbies and interests. Some drivers won’t even take the lousy buck, because the great conversations and laughs are where it’s at.
