I just submitted a proposal to eliminate all IPs and EPs. I figure TACC can just download my SFDR and give no-notice checkrides from their desk. Here comes VSP round 2!
On a more serious note, we talked about this last month at the Stan/Eval conference. We pointed out several issues with their data collection and with TACC's computer flight plans. So for now, this thing is more of a gee-whiz science project, but I'd expect to see this thing rear its ugly head at OG staff meetings and such.
A3V randomly picked a base/squadron/AC, and it showed him being something like 150% overfueled. However, the audience quickly began throwing spears at A3V - they tankered fuel because they were on a MEDEVAC going through Andrews, and Andrews won't refuel any transient crews and getting gas after hours takes several hours to coordinate. In other words, the AC made the right call to keep this high priority mission on schedule, but TACC thinks he tankered gas for convenience.
Bottom line, make sure you track this thing yourself so that when (not if) you're in the red, you can at least explain it.
FYI, their model uses the AVERAGE of the 3 alternates provided on the CFP, it doesn't use the ACTUAL alternate that gets filed. So if you're going to ETAR and the CFP lists EDDF, ETAR, and EGUN as alternates, but your flight manager filed EGUN, you will show up as tankering fuel. I brought this issue up but I don't think it's been fixed yet.
