Could they have let them start the first day, get employee numbers, then go home. At least they would be on the seniority list. Probably too many other implications with benefits enrollments and such.
I would imagine a company of this size image would rather anyone who is considered an “employee”, be fully trained in company policies etc....as in basic indoc.
I’m glad they haven’t cancelled any classes already in operation. You gotta think that discussion was taking place on Friday when they made the decision on where to draw the line.
