I guess he was working consistently 19 days a month and now going to 14 will cost him $2800.00 per month. As much as this sucks for the pilots this is how a company becomes profitable. I guess the good thing is if you only work 14 days a month you have plenty of time to work part time someone else or do contract flying.
We were previously on a 56 day bid cycle with our old program. That allowed for the overlap in the 8/6 and 4/3 to give you between 17 and 19 days working a month. With the new system, the lines will pretty much be 14 to 16 days. With 30/31 day bid cycles, the carryover from bid to bid won’t be there. The incentive pay will be just that now. If someone wants to pick up extra days and get the incentive pay, they just need to volunteer their time, to pick up extra days and get paid more.
