For delaying your bid for 5 days, the pilots gained pay protection if you test positive for the coronavirus. As mentioned here, in this case the pay would come out of your sick bank until you tested positive. The potential for the company to have to pay even 10 pilots outside of their sick bank for testing positive is extremely low.
The pilots would have a lot of schedule changes sure, however, check the reduction in lines for each base. I could only see my base but I will compare the two numbers when the new line count is posted on the 12th. What was given up was a larger percentage of pilots having lines and then being pulled or rescheduled from that flying while still maintaining their original guarantee. In some instances, extra rescheduling pay may have even applied to some of these pilots.
Now, you will have more reserves and more 72 hour guarantees. The benefit from the company received by the pilots will likely never even be seen. It's just free insurance awarded to you that you will likely never have to put a claim against.
