The 1918 Spanish Flu acted like this....it was present in the Winter of 1918, faded in the Spring, and came roaring back into the fall and next winter of 1919. That's when most of the people got sick and died.
Vaccine is 12-18 months out so we're unprotected until then. Most of us will survive this but it's going to be painful for quite a while before we come out of it.
The great depression was also a great time to buy stocks, except most people were too busy struggling to put food on the table.
