Straight from the JCBA:
A Pilot who calls in sick during a Month in which he either added flying and/or
was awarded a line eligible for premium pay pursuant to LOA 71, Paragraph C.
(Section 3.M.7.), Maximum Line Range, will
forfeit the premium portion of pay for
a number of hours equal to the number of sick hours used in that Month.
That is how it it works, plain and simple. Call in sick, forfeit premium pay for the ENTIRE month, not just the trip you called out for. If you think money loss for this punitive policy doesn't factor in a pilot's decision whether to call in or fly when they are marginal, you've got a lot to learn little buddy.
