I see this mentioned quite a bit as if we only see through rose colored glasses. Remember those same folks this refers to (myself included) remember the bad old times long before we got here and were likely a part of the lost decade. In fact, I hear more captains tell me "your career is gonna be great!", but I always respond with a cautious "I hope so but we all know poop happens".
