I've been saying for a while that it's easy to talk about the "Delta Family" during the good times. The majority of our seniority list has only seen the good times since being hired. I hope you are wrong on your assessment and I hope we don't furlough a soul. I know first hand how it can change your opinion of your management and union. If we do furlough we need to immediately vote to pay for COBRA for all furloughee's. The next month will be interesting to say the least.
Probably not true, most people lived through 2008 and age 65 in one job or another. The majority of people were probably already working in the airline industry, so sure, they weren't at Delta but this is a ridiculous statement to make. Look at the hiring stats (regional vs. military) and the average age of a new hire. The majority of people hired during the last few years of the good times also spent most of their career when career progression was in the dumper so they are well aware of the ups/downs of this industry.
