Not sure its fair to say "and get away with it" in the context you're using.
Its not as if they'd just do it to screw the People's Worker Class to get more thousand dollar bills to light their cigars with at their private island 100 year old Scotch sipping parties.
If they did what you are referring to, it would, by the very definition of what you're referring to in the first place, be done to avoid FA furloughs. You would therefore be saying you need a union primarily so the company is forced by contract to chop off thousands from the bottom instead.
To be fair, we'll see what the pilot union does. I'm very cautiously optimistic about it, but its too early to know obviously. I'd much prefer 40-50 hours lines to avoid (or at least mitigate) furloughs. If we don't do so IMO that's wrong, and if the non union FA management does the right thing (if ony on this one issue) that would be extremely embarassing for ALPA.
