We can all sit and complain. That's easy to do. Instead I am going to point out how we will overcome consumer complaints and uncertainty in Spirit Airlines...
1.) Menzies in FLL is gone as of April. If you don't believe me go to the careers page on the SpiritAir.com web site. All Baggage sort, Loading and Push Crews will be Spirit personal.
PS. Just over 500 pilots on property now. They are saying 150 more this year. The School house is pumping classes of 16 out as we speak.
2.) As the article says... Expanding route structure (just noticed San Antonio this morning) that will be enabled by a more spread out schedule in FLL.
3.) We still need Customs in Terminal 3 and a secure walkway on the Airside (In approval phase) to allow passengers arriving at terminal 4 to walk to terminal 3 without having to clear security again. Not only does the passenger need to clear, but their bags need to be re-sorted and sent via "Menzies" to another Terminal.
NOW... Fuel costs. Still rising.
4.) GPU and A/C cart at every gate.
5.) It costs 6 dollars a minute to run an IAE V2524-A5 at Idle. Lets say you wait 4 minutes to start 2. That's 24 dollars in savings. X 120 flights daily = 2880 Dollars X 365 days a year = 1, 051, 200 dollars in savings annually.
That's just money that has the potential to be ours in the next contract.
6.) I still don't know why the school house does not implement landing configuration 3 when able...Fuel, Fuel, Fuel.
7.) Potable water... besides international, can get service at every station. Do We really need 100 percent full from FLL to MYR??? Its just more weight.
Most importantly, we all need to stay united as one pilot group. Not 2 or 3 like it has been. This will hurt us the most. Now is the time we pull together and make this an airline to have a career at.
