Look at why every plane is almost empty, Disney is close, cruise ships stopped sailing and Vegas stopped dealing cards. Business travelers are told to work from home. For $20 one way ticket, it still doesn’t stop some people from flying. Once things are opened back up, I think you’ll see the amount of people who wants to travel go up quickly. Some business will fail, I just hope all of this will pass and people will go back to their normal lives ASAP. IMO
No doubt the future it’s impossible to predict. The difference is, a good number of our pilots fail to understand basic concepts of our industry. I’d be more than happy to be wrong. Believe me, I’m not shorting SAVE. Once people start flying again, the biggest challenge will be the dilution of yields thanks to overcapacity. What will the big 3 do with the bailout money? Part of that money could be used to flood the market with cheap seats to fight back LCCs. Again, not a prediction but a possibility. Even if they do, on the long wrong will win that fight, but it’s important to understand that there will be blood. I have my money on NK.
