The four digit seniority number every pilot is given upon hiring. Of course as people wash out of training or quit gaps appear in the list of these numbers. So the only thing you can tell at a glance from them is someone's relative seniority. 2000 is a higher seniority than 2001 because 2000 was hired before 2001.
