Folks, this isn't as hard as it seems. As an FO, you are no different than any other FO, regardless of aircraft type. Pay is the same. The only difference is the bases. You will be an FO in this aircraft type until you upgrade, you are displaced by loss of aircraft type, or we get a new contract that says otherwise. When you are senior enough to upgrade, you can upgrade to whatever airplane your seniority holds. It doesn't matter which type you are in as an FO. Maybe it takes 15 months of seniority to upgrade to the 145 and 18 months to upgrade to the 170. If you want the 170, you wait your 18 months. When you upgrade, you are now locked into the captain seat that you upgraded into for 2 years. If, after this 2 years, you decide you want to be a captain in a different type, you can bid this type, provided it is a pay increase. Currently, you cannot go from Republic 170 captain to Shuttle 170 captain as it is not a pay increase. Clear as mud?
