You've got plenty of time. I’m a recent new hire sent home in the middle of training. Others in training had it worse than me, such as having their training cancelled within hours of their LOE ride brief. However, what we all have in common is that we are being sent home with no time line of a return date other than “when the planes start flying again and the passengers come back.” We are being kept on training pay with benefits. It’s better than nothing sure but is it really? We can’t file for unemployment which would pay us more. Also, they made this decision knowing that even if we could “flow back” to our much better paying and relatively senior position at our last jobs, those doors were closed because either the companies are gone or are furloughing. 39 of us are being held at training pay for an indefinite period to “preserve cash.” The company stated they don’t know if/when they will take bailout money because it all depends on “the strings attached.” The horrible math in public equals out to a couple million per year. I would have hoped our core values were worth more than that. There’s also no word on any longevity benefits so if we stick around we could be on training pay a very long time. We’ve been told we will keep our seniority number.

I know nothing is guaranteed and industry is very unpredictable however all of us in my class planned to get through the program and made preparations for the financial realities of training. What we didn’t plan on was getting held onto until a point that everyone knew pretty much every door was closed to then be left mostly with a crap sandwich UFN.

ALPA weighed in. They were caught of guard by this and the legal guys are looking into it but based on the RLA and the contract we are at will employees with zero protections until IOE completion.

I’m sure I will catch heat for this because that’s what APC does. I really couldn’t care less. I may be ruining my chances at JB. DOX me or whatever it’s called. I’m not planning on holding out for the call back because my family deserves better than burning through our emergency funds for this. I figured the word should get out about the #caring and #integrity occurring to preserve cash.
Sorry this happened man, but I don’t know if you have been following APC the last few years. This company has no values, it is literally the opposite of what they preach. Honestly I think the way people get treated here is by far the worst out of any airline that I have seen. That includes the regionals. Again, sorry this happened, and I hope you get to come back soon, but expect nothing less than this during your entire career here. We fire more people than any other airline BTW.
