In your utopia, how long would you lockdown for, and why.

The projections are out there, granted they’re just projections, but they’re objective and we can examine assumptions and compare data.

The goal is flatten the curve, understanding that the curves will differ depending on location and resources available, as well as countermeasures employed.

Understand we may well ALL catch this virus at some point, but that won’t affect the economy IF people know (1) there is a shot that works, OR (2) they’ve survived it and they know they won’t get sick again.

So others have opined on the inoculation challenge, but that’s not years, it’s months. And we are just beginning to see people infected, it’s too soon to see big numbers survive and recover, and return to normal life.

So you’re asking for a definite where none exists, but the variables are clear. It’s also clear that if we work together we can make it shorter than if we wing it, take different paths, or fail to heed the warnings that our experts are giving us.
