Why? Because the decades of hiding negotiations worked so well for everybody. In 2013-2014 when everybody started posting publicly, every other MEC or pilot group knew what not to go below, and every pilot group started voting no to concessions and acting as one large group..... up until one regional traded concessions for another carriers aircraft. Everybody else had voted no on concessions, and I mean everybody, some multiple times..... and it was all because the deals were NOT being hidden. There was also a great deal of behind the scenes communication among MEC's at both the regional and legacy levels. In several cases, other MEC's had the deals in front of them from other regionals in closed session before the other airlines own pilots had seen it, so that nobody undercut what was happing next door.
Yes, some things were kept quiet until there was a framework of a deal; but in no case was there a keep quiet order after a deal went public. In fact, there were several cases where the extreme loud revolt at how bad a deal was actually caused companies to improve the deal.
