Quote: We’ll have to get exemptions for the CARES act as we’re down to 56 flights a day. Most of them are out and backs. Those 56 daily flights can be bid on in open time. Otherwise you are on reserve or taking a reduced hour line to stay home.
That is what every airline should be doing right now. Cut 90% of the schedule (since passenger numbers are down 95%). Put the remaining schedule into open time. Put every pilot on reserve. Schedule out and backs if possible (to avoid laying over in a hotel for exposure and cost reasons). Offer as many reduced hour lines as practical to those who want to stay at home. No premium pay needed. No one exceeds min guarantee due to scheduling issues. Save as much cash as possible to prevent as many furloughs as possible come October 1.
