I agree with your statement completely. It would solve their problems though with scope though. Slap everyone on at the bottom of the list in seniority order, and seat lock for 1 year CA and 2 years as an FO with modest regional payrates. I highly doubt any current mainline pilot will be begging for the chance to fly an outdated and cramped aircraft. However, this is a way the lifers still get their cushy schedules/pay, and if they decide to move off that airframe, it’s not like they are displacing anyone on a larger aircraft due to their low seniority. As for everyone else, we were already going to start at the bottom of the list once we moved to that final gig anyways. Oh.. and make all new hires fly the crappy old aircraft first as we have to maintain the “if I had to suffer, you have to suffer too” aviation mentality.
