I never mentioned rigs because those should not be touched, even temporarily. That's a pandora's box that must not be opened.
From your example, a pilot at 88 credit hours has a flight in his current pairing cancel out of base. The company can park away from base him for multiple days with a reassignment, as an effective system reserve, at the cost of 2 hours. To me, that’s giving up rig and I’m vehemently opposed to it.
My suggestion is that we let the NC do their job if and when it’s appropriate and stop running to put our heads on the block in public.
