Default Regional for the most direct path to United?

United is planning to hire 10,000 pilots over the next decade. They even bought a flight school, apparently, because there's a huge pilot shortage in the U.S. Which regional carrier would help me achieve the goal of working for United? I just heard about the Aviate program and it seems almost too good to be true. Any thoughts?

According to the United Aviate website,
"Aviate is your way in. Wherever you are on your journey, the Aviate program provides the most direct route to a job offer with United"
"We aim to hire more than 10,000 pilots in the next decade. With the largest fleet of wide-body aircraft in North America, we’re looking for the best and brightest to fly us forward."
Is there a particular regional jet I should try to get typed on that will set me apart as the best and brightest, maybe even better prepare me to fly widebody aircraft?

Thanks in advance!
