The fact that there's 175s flying routes that should be on a 737 doesn't sit right with me, and not something I'd want to get into. I 100% understand the need for a turboprop service into places where a large jet can't get into, but you don't need a regional running routes like SEA-DFW, or SEA-MKE for example.
Believe me you want no part of Alaska Air Group. You are totally correct in your observations on the lack of scope. They are already subbing in Horizon and Skywest on routes flown by the airbus or 737. To provide further perspective Horizon is upgrading and hiring still while management talks of large force reductions for mainline in October.
For all of the talk of Alaska’s product I just don’t see it, not much different than anyone else’s and certainly not close to what JetBlue offers.
